How God Created Everything You Need
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).
This empowering verse of scripture reminds us who created us why He did it. It exhorts us to get busy fulfilling His purpose for our lives. God knew everything He would want us to do when He created us and that He placed within us everything we would ever need to accomplish it. This is why Paul could write, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
If God has prepared and equipped us for good works, we are left without excuse. It is time for us to get busy doing the work for which we were made. When we understand this principle, we can not comfortably sit around expecting someone else to do our God given tasks. When God’s children understand this truth, there is never a shortage of workers in God’s Church.
The deceiver does not accept this truth. He continually whispers lies about our inadequacies. He recruits others to assist him with placing doubts in our heads. He constantly reminds us of our inadequacies. Our reply should be that we can’t but we serve someone who can. We may be inadequate but the One who gives the task is not.
My testimony is an example of this truth. The year that I graduated from college, I was asked to say a simple blessing over the meal at our family reunion. I declined because the only prayer I could think of was “God is great; God is good; let us thank Him for the food.” Now, when I stand in the pulpit to preach, I stand amazed in what God can do. Each week I remember how unable I am and I concentrate on how completely able and willing He is to empower those He calls.
In the future, when you are asked to do something in God’s service, be sure you ask the correct question before you give an answer. Don’t ask about your ability but ask if it is what God would have you to do. He is more interested in your availability than He is your ability. If you are available, He will provide everything else that you need.
